I recently bought a Peter Gane bucket mute, and it is very sturdy. I will continue with some additional tangential info to your question in a new thread, but it may prove helpful/interesting.

I get my plunger mutes at a hardware store, for a couple bucks. As for Peter Gane in general, the bucket mute is outstanding. The best I've ever encountered, in fact. Sorry to hear you didn't like the plunger though.

My Peter Gane bucket and adjustable cup mutes are my favorites of those types. I agree with using a standard toilet plunger for that type of mute.

Yes I now but in my country the sink plunger are made by one only company and it sucks on the other side I own more than 10( I collect them) company made plungers and some of them are really good like the HB tuxedo and my favorite of all a vintage Shastock Tommy Dorsey plunger (I also have a good toilet plunger but still prefer the others).

I think (?) these are sink plungers, of which you speak.

Toilet plungers are larger, and more commonly used by trombone players. Not that one cannot use this type for trumpet, however.

Yes you are right just a mistake, I have a good sink plunger with hole and coins for buzz but still prefer the old Shastock.
This a tune that I use the Shastock plunger and a very old French long pixie mute.
