Clapper caps, dynasound valve guides and piston clappers. This is heavy.

This is the horn he plays it is not the Titan 170 it is the standard Titan with the 4th valve addition.

The 170 was developed for Brass Band and as far as I know is not available in a 4 valve configuration.

The standard Titan Flugelhorn is an incredible instrument.

Best, Jon

This thread is "running out of gas", and is becoming extremely boring. Time to let it go.

Guido -- buy something, and the best of luck with it.

Anybody considering a 4 valved horn should try it out, first to see if you are comfortable holding it. I tried a Getzen 4 valver and I could barely hold it, not even mentioning using the valves. No way would I ever consider one. Very uncomfortable.

Thank you Robert for your feedback.

I am terribly sorry that this thread may be causing you an attack of anhedonia (a.k.a. severe boredom).

As for myself, and mayhap a few other folks, this thread is of some interest.

On the other hand, as a lad I did enjoy watching grass grow in the middle of a sweltering summer.... Yep, in about two hours of steady observation with the aid of a magnifying plate, there was in fact some growth detected on the sprig of grass under examination.

Yep, I was an odd kid... And, some 50 years after, I have not changed yet.

This is hilarious! Not that someone has been mildly (very mildly) rebuked in a public online forum, but that in the midst of trying to learn something new about flugelhorn options on the market, I'm actually learning totally new vocabulary, like "anhedonia" and "palliative." How cool is that?! Now watching grass grow, admittedly, I did not as a youngster. Instead, I would just stare at those that did! But only for a couple minutes; I would loose interest too quickly. <guffaw>

My bad... Jon Ruff is correct.

The Stomvi 4-valve flugel, does in fact have a 154mm (6.062 inch) bell.
The 170mm bell is instead used for the 3 valve Band Edition flugel. See:
