https://www.ebay.com/itm/390613909105?ul_noapp=true
The listing is for a "Good H N White C ( King ) USA Bb Cornet Horn Mouthpiece".
I checked the HNWHITE.COM website.
http://hnwhite.com/Mouthpieces%20Page.htm
The person who listed the mouthpiece said that the only thing engraved on the side of it is the letter C. In the old catalogs, there is no cornet mouthpiece referred to as a C.
Although it is not listed in the catalog, I have seen an MC mouthpiece discussed on TH. Could the MC cornet mouthpiece be simply engraved with only a C?
The main thing is that the mouthpiece indeed be for a cornet, and not for a trumpet, trombone, French Horn, or whatever. Can anyone verify that this is indeed a cornet mouthpiece?
Finally, I presume that the size is roughly equivalent to a Bach 7. Can anybody weigh in on that?
Much obliged,

The C means cornet. Really. If it had a T it would mean trumpet. The diameter is close to a Bach 7. Which year and era of Bach 7? Funny question. I call these medium sized mouthpieces. They work great. The other issue is that actual dimensions vary. I've had the same marked mouthpiece differ in rim feel and bore size. I have one that works better if it is oriented a certain way. I put the C side to the right and everything is nice. Other directions not as much. _________________ Richard

When I'm in South Carolina in Oct. I can bring my entire King and H. N. White mouthpieces if you want to try them. I keep going back to my Cleveland C mouthpiece. Really easy to play on my Clevelander cornet. _________________ Richard

I concur with the posts above, having played my Uncle's King Silvertone. The listing is misleading, however. The proprietary shank taper of pre-war King trumpets and cornets was not Bach Standard. _________________ King Super 20 Trumpet; Sov 921 Cornet

My Silvertone works with both modern Curry mouthpieces as well as King and Conn mouthpieces from the 30's and 40's. _________________ Richard

I have a Curry cornet mouthpiece and it seats too deeply in the King cornet receiver. I put some tape on the mouthpiece to correct the problem. However, as iiipopes said,"The proprietary shank taper of pre-war King trumpets and cornets was not Bach Standard."
I was thinking about having a Bach Standard receiver put on, but for all that I use this cornet, it would not be worth it (I still need to add a piccolo trumpet, C trumpet and shepherd's crook cornet to my arsenal).
Warm regards,

Please indicate the issue with seating too deeply. Is there a resulting problem with playing? I have pieces that insert all different depths and it doesn't seem to affect play. _________________ Richard

Other than looks, I'm not sure. Really, there may not be a problem. The horn plays funny in the upper register; it doesn't seem to slot well. However, I really don't know if that is attributable to a problem with the gap or not. I'm looking for a King mouthpiece to try out. I thought that I might learn a thing or two from the experience.
Warm regards,

Cornet. Look at the proportion of the cup to the length of shank. _________________ King Super 20 Trumpet; Sov 921 Cornet

My Reynolds, which is the same configuration as the King Master, has issues with the upper register. Playing funny might be a way to describe it. But some mouthpieces fix that issue. One of them is the one in my signature. I've got a long list of ones that it doesn't like. _________________ Richard
