|

So I've been recently looking for a new Bach for my daughter and can't help notice all the recent engraved bells are very lightly engraved vs. some of my older Bach's that were stamped... I can only imagine in about 20 years of polishing, that the recent engraving will be gone, etc...
I'm curious what is so hard -or- difficult about stamping? I understand engraving is automated, but a bell stamping I would assume could be done very quickly also? Also, if you were making a lot of custom engraving, I can see why an engraved system would be good, but there are really not that many combinations? Does stamping vs. engraving change the sound?
Any mfg. experiences/comments out there? Would think it would be a differentiator... _________________ ------

In recent years I've noticed that Bach has gone to engraved serial nos. on the second valve casing. They were stamped before that, so I'm guessing it's a way to save time. _________________ "Strive for tone." -John Coppola
