I'm hoping someone can tell me who made this horn, and whether it's worth restoring. If not, I'm going to practice hydrographics on it.

It has no discernible logo aside from a stylized "F" or "T" with a series of accents above it, and it looks like it's been buffed out numerous times, eliminating any other markings.

The valve block appears to be nickel, with very odd coarse-threaded caps. Valve slides are nickel. Valves are top-sprung. The finger hook has an interesting design, and might help to identify it as well.

I'm betting it's a Vincnt Back or a Getsem from China.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

for some reason, the image of the engraving doesn't show, but the link is here:

There's really not much to go on there. No idea.

Most trumpets worth playing/restoring actually have some markings on them. They have a brand, a model number of some kind - often, and a serial number.

Just sayin'.....

I am pretty sure Getzen makes their own instruments in the US.

Bach will have serial numbers and a badge on the bell.

So you can eliminate both of those thoughts.

You are correct.

OK--sounds like it's not going to be one of those "You did WHAT to that priceless vintage instrument?" scenarios. I'll go ahead and hydrographic it.

No, it's going to be more like "You put all of the effort to hydrograph that horn?

After pictures, please.

Gary.

It looks to me like the upper and lower entry points of the main tuning slide are further to the left than what is common, in the horizontal picture. What that means, I don't know.

I think it just means they used really long ferrules. No idea why they did that.
