Not regularly. If I have a really hard day I might take an easy day the next day, maybe just play some warm-down exercises.

If I found that I need a day off every week I'd rethink my approach and look for ways to manage my playing better, if possible, so I wouldn't get so exhausted.

Yes, a day off can do wonders. It is a reboot for the muscles and the signals from the brain.

Suzuki said, “Practice only on the days you eat.”

Practice can take multiple forms. Study of scales and theory, learning musical terms in a work, studying the history of the work you are learning, listening to or reading a text about practice, positive thought process, personal growth. And so on...all beneficial, and some can be substituted for actual horn time.

It doesn't have (in my opinion) to be horn on face to grow as a musician.

I think so. In my younger years, I always felt it took me twice as long to get back to where I was before I took a day or two off. Now, after many years of playing, I just go off how I feel. If the chops feel like they're fatigued, take a day, or just do some very light playing for a few minutes.
