I just watched what someone put up as the top 5 scream trumpet solos in movies of all time. I don't want to start an argument at all. All were great choices. I just wondered how many of you have ever seen Uncle Joe Shannon starring Burt Young. Maynard did the screech part. I feel like such a novice being 67 and saying I have never seen the movie. Just wanted some opinions. |

I seem to remember that the 60s James Bond spoof movie, "Casino Royale" had some great high notes played by (I think) Bud Brisbois. |

Some of the recent animated movies have crazy trumpet parts. I think Wayne plays on a number of them. _________________ "Music is like candy, you throw the (w)rappers away." |

I think that was by the Tijuana Brass. The high notes could also have been by Ollie Mitchell, who also did some studio work with them (the TJB). _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

thanks for everyone contributing. There are so many good high note specialists. I like Miyashiro 'cause he gets involved with youth some. Bergeron is killer and he also gives time to younger players. Faddis, Brisbois, and of course Maynard. I watch a ton of movies, lots of them older. One of the reasons I will stay up for the whole 2 1/2 hours to watch "the hustler" on TCM is to hear the righteous sax player they used for the soundtrack. Thanks again, to everyone |

I recall that was a burnin' soundtrack. Didn't know it was Faddis but that totally makes sense. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

I actually heard the MF version of the Rocky theme before I saw the movie. And while I didn't hate the Bill Conti original version of the tune in the movie, it really does pale when you have Maynard's version in your head. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

I've read that it was Derek Watkins for the old movie. No idea about the new ones. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

The scene at the dance in West Side Story. I think it was Uan Rasey. |

Bud Brisbois did some notable work on the “Johnny Cool” soundtrack, which was written by Billy May I believe. I think it’s out on YouTube. _________________ MF Fan
