There is clearly a misunderstanding of the difference between pressure and flow. _________________ '75 Bach Strad 180ML/37

Quote: | Darryl’s argument that, “The flow "feels" continuous but at the aperture the air flow "pulses" into the mp cup,” seems to imply that he thinks that the entire amount of the flow of air coming from the lungs is converted into mechanical energy (the vibration of the lips) |
The majority of it is. And it better be. If it isn't you have real efficiency issues. Not to mention sound quality problems.
Please note that I wrote that the pulses of air oscillate between some maximum instantaneous flow and some minimum. So yes, if the air flow is not completely stopped, or zero, at the minimum flow of the cycle then there is indeed a "leakage". But the DC flow amount of this "leakage" IS the continuous minimum flow. Not the average flow.
The total flow is the minimum flow plus the average (RMS) of the AC flow.
As for your citation of "the steady flow U" I suspect that this may include the average flow, not just a DC leakage. |
