Is there a way to get rid of this .... or turn it off .... or something? All of the sudden every forum post/marketplace ad etc. I click on, the page immediately jumps to the bottom where this stupid ad ..... that I couldn't care less about .....is. And when I try to scroll back up, it just immediately jumps to the video. It's pretty infuriating. This site, this way, is useless at this point in my opinion.

This does not happen to me on any of my devices. Have you done a virus scan recently?

+1

Nor I, and none of the adverts are streaming video when I load a page. If this was happening I think we'd see a rash of complaints and, except for yours, there have been none.

Thanks for the replies and I'm glad I'm the only one it has happened to! it's been better today but still happening. I don't think it's virus related as I have had the issue on at least 3 different devices.

I don't see video ads either. Perhaps the guys at the bottom are now targeting based on your browsing history. If so, clearing your cookies might help. It will also erase some stuff, like auto sign in sites, so think before doing so.

Or you could try browsing using an InPrivate/Incognito mode in your favorite browser.

Same for me, except that the video doesn't play correctly and I do hear the man's voice from the ad at random times lasting for just a few seconds.

I use AdBlock Plus, which removes some (but not all) ads from pages. I also use the Safari browser—the latest version has a feature to disable the autoplay of videos. This used to be a big problem on ESPN, for example, and our local newspaper website, but no more. Another chapter in the ongoing battle for our attention, I guess.

Can you recommend the best ad block plug-in for Firefox? Thank you.

I just started getting the video ads today.

Regardless, I think the whole "Taboola feed" thing is awful. Scrolling locks up while the string of ads loads . . . and loads . . . and loads . . .

It seems to be a kind of tumblr-- the more you scroll, the more it loads.

Did the moderators decide to do this?

Maybe it's time to switch to TrumpetMaster.

The owner of TH makes these decisions. The moderators do not.

That said, a new version of TH is reportedly in the works, so be patient.

I wouldn't disable ads on some sites as I know that's how they generate revenue but for really bad sites with crazy ads, UBlock Origin is one of the best ad blocker plugins out there, I think it works for Firefox, works for Chrome and Safari I know for sure.

Shortly after I posted my last comment on this topic, the scroll lockups and performance problems with the site seemed to go away. Now they're back.

There seems to be a sponsored video that is causing the problem. Can't the webmaster filter or test these Taboola Feed additions to exclude ones that impact the usability of the site? How greedy can the party responsible be?

The video ad was apparently targeted to me, but I found a way to opt out of such targeting in Taboola. However, my scrolling and control of my cursor still lock up as the ads stream in.

Moderator, please ask the webmaster to look into this. I use IE 11.0.9600.18977.
