Out of shear curiosity, has anyone tried out the new Bb Schilke 'Soloiste' model? Also it should be interesting to hear if anyone has played it side by side and compared it to a Schilke HD.
Did any stores start to carry the 'Soloiste' in stock?
Maybe it'll take more time.

None of the bigger Schilke retailers have it on their websites yet. The walk-in stores in my area are reluctant to carry Schilke - frustrating as I recommend the HD's to my students. I imagine that they will be at ITG with these new models. Can't wait to try one.

Did anyone try this at ITG? So far, Thompson is the only place I’ve seen that’s carrying this model.

The new valve casing, non-reverse leadpipe, and Yamaha Chicago-style brace placement are all very interesting and not traditional Schilke. I’m curious to hear how it compares to the Schilke lineup and Bach’s, Yamaha’s, and other makes.

I played the Bb Soloiste at NAMM for a little bit. My quick impression was that it has a very smooth and easy blow, closer to Yamaha than Bach IMO, but with the typical Schilke response and evenness. But it didn’t really feel like any of the B series horns to me... closer to the S series Schilkes, with a rounder sound and a snappier feel. I was really impressed, and I’m looking forward to visiting the factory this summer to check it out some more.

How the "industry" treats Schilke is really strange. I just bought an S22C HD with basically demo hours on it for $1,600.

Looks like there's going to be more than one configuration in the Soloiste line?

The HD horns are really nice. I would love to own one. I tried a few of the C-trumpet (HD) at their shop. Fell in love.
