Baking soda is only slightly alkaline (pH about 9), while vinegar is very strongly acidic (pH about 2.4), so you'd need a lot more baking soda than vinegar to "neutralize" the acid. The reaction produces sodium acetate, which is "a salt", but not a particularly well-known salt. Certainly the reaction will not produce common table salt, as there is no chlorine in the vinegar or baking soda. _________________ '75 Bach Strad 180ML/37
