Anybody knows what kind of trumpet Chet Plays in Live@Ronnie Scott?

Chet was playing a early to mid 60's Buescher Aristocrat student horn
made just before Selmer purchased Buescher. Valve screwed into valves
not on to valves valve button have a special shape. I have one of the Horns
just because i want a horn like Chets. He played the in the 80's. The same
horn found on the bed at his hotel room at his death

A friend of mine that worked in Giardinelli's in NYC told me the story behind that horn!! Chet was playing in NYC and walked in to Giardinelli's and started a conversation with my friend. He gave him a sob story how he didn't have a trumpet for a gig that night and asked if he could "borrow" a horn and he would return it the next day. So my friend looked around and found that Beuscher lying around. He asked Chet what size mouthpiece he wanted and Chet said he didn't care as long as it's around a Bach 6-7 size. My friend said he gave him either a "7" or a "7B" as he couldn't exactly remember which one.

Yep...you guessed it...Chet never returned it and took off for Europe!!! Bob Giardinelli was outraged that my friend "lent" him the horn so he made my friend pay for the trumpet and mouthpiece by deducting a certain amount out of his weekly paycheck until the horn was paid off!!!

True story!!!

I recently bought a Buescher Super Aristocrat from the same era. I'm not a Buescher specialist and I can't check on the Buescher Loyalist website as it seems to be offline for a while, but from what I know the main difference between the Aristocrat and the Super Aristocrat is the bell. The Aristocrat has a brass bell and the Super Aristocrat, a nickel one.

Apart from this the bore size may be different. My Super Aristocrat is a step bore horn and the bore size at the 2ns valve is .462. Tom could correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, both horns are very similar and in no way they are student horns. The fact the Aristocrat doesn't own the ''Super'' prefix doesn't make a student horn of it. I've never played one but based on the fact both horns are similar I guess this is an outstanding sleeper horn.

My Super Aristocrat is one of my favorites. It can play so soft and dark at low volume and then peel the paint off the walls. Intonation is fantastic and valve action is wow!...Just have to be used to it as the nickel bell doesn't give the same feedback than a brass one.

Nickel-plated, but yes, the feedback is going to be different.

Conn's Connstellation of the same era is also nickel plated, but it's the entire horn except the slides.

Be careful of denting that bell (or the Conn); dents are harder to take out without leaving signs of damage.
