Just played on the Bach Commercial mpc - 7S.
I had previously tried both the 5S & the 5MV. The results with those as well were less than astonishing. Also, they felt very wide for the size. So I tried a size smaller - the 7S.
This does not work for me, either. Why?
1) The rim is too thin - it feels like a French horn mpc rim.
2) The cup is too shallow. Quite frankly, it closely resembles a Schilke 13A.
3) Subsequently, I lose my top notes and struggle for my medium-top notes, as well.
4) Accuracy (for me) is non-existant. I can't find the slots.

Since playing it results in my taking a major step backwards, it will be returned.
My past experience has shown me that a mpc which results in an improvement in my playing is immediately noticeable.
OTOH, having to work for weeks or months to get back where I already was makes no sense. The mpcs that I have played on for longer periods of time always "popped" when I first played on them. In other words, they immediately demonstrated an improvement over what I had been playing on. As a player who has to be on top of his game in a variety of settings each day, I cannot and have no need to take a step (or two) back from my current level of playing.
This line of mpcs does not work for me. I'm done.............

What was it that as said in the pit? Oh yes... 'Bached again!'
