Does anybody have any experience on the Bach 2 (no letter)? Also interested in any mouthpieces folks have found to be similar. Thanks!

It's very deep. The rim is flat and the bite is a little sharp. The alpha angle is very low.

Although the rim itself is very different, from a cup and alpha angle perspective you might compare it to a Monette B1-1 or C 1-1 (the original non-slap cup).

I played one for a while when I was in an army band. The 2 was for me the darkest sounding mouthpiece I ever played, even darker than my Bach 1.
I had no issues with the shape of the rim.

I play on a Bach MV 2, and enjoy it very much. Find that the sound is rich and large. The first couple of weeks I'd get tired after a few hours on it, but soon got used to it and issues of fatigue went away.

I have a small print no letter 2. I agree with above but add that it feels more like in the bach 5 range on the lips versus being bigger than a 3.

It's funny really - there are LOADS of different models of Bach mouthpieces, but only a pretty small percentage of them are regularly seen out there being used (or even sold in the first place).

There are some real gems hidden away in the line-up that many people have never even heard of, let alone tried...

Problem is, until you try them you can only really guess what they might be like - rim profile could be almost anything, cups vary wildly for the same designation (eg: a 3C cup is often barely any deeper than a 7E cup, where some other C cups like the 2-1/2 and 2-3/4C are as deep as some of the A cups).
So until you try them, you don't know what you're getting yourself into - but because you're unlikely to bump into the less common models, you're unlikely to discover what they're all about.

I have both the Bach 2 and Curry 2BC. That might be the closest mouthpiece in the Bach 2 size range. The 2, mine is from the early 70's is really dark sounding.

Yes the 2-1/2C and 2-3/4 C are very deep, much deeper than the "C" designator suggest. They are different than an "A" or "B" cup in that they are very bowl shaped--very much like a 1X or some of the other "No Letter" cups.

The 2-3/4C has the most extreme bowl shapes cups I've ever seen, with a very tight throat entrance,.
