Markus Stockhausen onhis own composition:

I believe he might be playing on a Van Laar flugel.

Some of the best flugelhorn playing I have heard lately--and maybe ever--is on Youtube. It is Arturo Sandoval playing "Emily". He gets the most beautiful sound on this very simple tune, and the improvised chorus will knock you out.
Enjoy!

In my humble opinion, you just can't beat Roy Hargrove on the flugelhorn:

Hi, here are a couple of people I really like on flugelhorn with plenty of YouTube sites.

Tony Guerrero

Till Bronner

Album from singer "Mario Biondi" and the High Five Quintet featuring Fabrizio Bosso on Trumpet and some amazing flugelhorn solos!

Also Michael Fair, plays all flugelhorn on his albums. Here is one of my favorites!

Thanks for posting, I really enjoyed this! Was the guitar player playing the bass lines? I did not see a bass player in the video, but sounds like it, sometimes more than at other times.

Check youtube out for Ack Van Rooyen from Holland I believe. He is like 86 now and there are a couple solos on there where he is drawn butter and his improv is flawless. There's lots of great ones out there, though. Ack plays Van Laar flugels. Have fun looking.

Strange, I had the same thought and wondered if it was an overdub as no bass player is mentioned on the CD cover.
The 2 earlier CD's are good too, although there is some overlap in the tunes -- no bass player though!

Tom Arthurs (Flugel) and Richard Fairhurst (Piano) Mesmer and Postcard From Pushkin.

Dmitri Matheny. Jay Thomas, the tenor player on the video, is also one hip trumpet (and flute) player. And, two of my favorite Seattle players, Bill Anschell and Phil Sparks,
