Why is it so difficult to find one of these. I found
New old stock but not sure what that means. Lots of #4 s which I already have.

Thanks ahead
Mark

The phrase "new old stock" typically means items that a retailer bought as new but never sold for whatever reason. Basically, unused.

New old stock means it's one that was never sold (or used). Not too many models came with the 5, and I've never seen a 6... most every Conn came with a 4. That said, I have a 5 and it's way too small for me. I don't like the 4 very much, either (still a bit small), but if you like small shallow mouthpieces, a 5 is the ticket.

Dale ,
Are you hanging on to the 5 ? Not trying to be pushy, just asking.
eBay has a 6 new old stock but they look totally different than the style of the 4 . That's why it threw me. Looks more like a Bach.

If it looks like a Bach, then it's a newer Conn and will be similar to a Bach 6. As far as I know, the vintage Conn 6 has the same basic shape as the other Conn mouthpieces of the era, but is a "screamer" mouthpiece.

Even though I don't use my Conn 5 mouthpiece, it goes with the 1960 Conn 6B trumpet I have and I want to keep the original stuff together. The Conn 6B is one of the few Conn horns that came with a 5 mouthpiece.

That said, I see Conn 5 mouthpieces crop up on eBay from time to time, so if you want one and are patient, you'll find one.

Thanks Dale. Have a 6 B also but just purchased the horn second hand w/o case or mpc. Nice horn though
