Hi everybody, I'm new to the site and had a question about my Dad's trombone. We found the trombone in the basement tucked away in an under-stairs closet that was rarely used. We estimate he used it when he was 11-12 years olf based on pics we have of him using it. That would have put the date in the 1947-1948 timeframe.
I got the following information off the trombone:
Sherwood Master (etched on the end of the horn).
S/N: 41491 (etched where the mouthpiece would insert).
The case is in bad condition, as you can see from the pic, but the trombone itself looks to be in great condition. When I first took it out of the case I could see a ton of gold flakes coming off. I assume this is the varnish? Does anybody know? How do I go about cleaning this up without messing it up?
Hmmm, I can't seem to get pics added to the post. How do I do this?
Thanks in advance for any info you might have.
