Hey, Nick, I am an old fart who grew up in the big band and early jazz era and my taste in music is very fussy, but I just want to say that I really liked the stuff you were doing in the 80s. But let's face it, the 80s wasn't very kind to brass. Have you given any thought of trying it out these days ? _________________ GeorgeB

Hi Nick,
I enjoyed it. That "foolproof" was kinda Funkayy, baby! Very tight arrangement and playing as well.
I would envision more commercial success with a stylistically consistent lyric and sound. All instrumental cuts were always hard to bring to market.
Cheers,

Great stuff Nick! You never know, Rick Braun may have taken your lead, and decided he could sell a lot of records by dialing back the energy. Your music also sounds a bit like a generationally-earlier version of John Culbreth’s Naughty Professor/Naughty Horns. |

I think Pete and I have just accepted that we took a shot and missed the target. We're not bitter. It is what it is (or was what it was??).
If a couple of people enjoy it now, all these years later, I'm grateful for that much!

Sounds like a good attitude, Nick. By the way, I neglected to mention that you are one helluva fine trumpet player. _________________ GeorgeB

I think if you would have added a female singer you could have been Seawind. Sounded great. _________________ Saluki Guy |
