Jonathan used to play in the British Steel Brass Band here in South Wales about ten years ago....I was on flugelhorn at the time....still there by the way. However the band is now struggling to get new players. Jonathan has done extremely well to get where he is. I bought a couple of mpcs off him a couple of years back.

The actual dates that I played principal in the HKPO were from October of 1980 to July of 1983. The section during my tenure there was Kevin Rosenberry on 2nd and Roger Manners on 3rd/Asst.

David,

Thanks very much for reviewing this list and updating your dates of tenure. I had contacted David Washburn and he provided me with the following information:

Hello Derek,

I was Principal Trumpet Starting Feb. 1984 - July 1987 (2 1/2 Seasons)
Henry Nowak was Principal Sept 1983 - Jan 1984 (1/2 Season)
Stan Friedman was Principal Sept 1982 - July 1983 (one Season)

I hope this Helps

David Washburn

Roger Manners Was the Associate Principal when I was there.
He was there for many years and now works for the Yamaha Corp in Japan.
I am sure he would be able to help out.

Would you happen to know when Stanley Friedman was with the HKPO?

I don't know anything about Stanley Freidman. They didn't say much about the player just before me, only that they left rather suddenly so I was actually hired a week or two after labor day in 1980 playing a private audition for Ling Tung, then conductor, in Jackson Hole Wyoming where he was conducting the Teton Music Festival.

Hope this helps!

Kevin Rosenberry was never Principal Trumpet in the HKP. He started there sometime from March-May of 1978. He was not in Hong Kong in 1975,76, or 77. He was at Temple U 1975-76, went to Curtis in the fall of 1976 and was there until he left for Hong Kong.
