I see a Phaeton trumpet I could potentially buy sub $1000. It has a reverse leadpipe, heavy bracing, and a sterling silver leadpipe. And is almost brand new. Does anyone know anything about Phaeton. I've been looking at reviews and read they play like an intermediate horn. I'm looking for a professional trumpet that'll last. Could this be the one?[/code]

That's about right. When new, it's a $2,000 horn.

I played a Phaeton 10 or 15 years ago. I don't know what model it was. It played real nice (smooth and even), but too bright for me. I prefer a dark Bach Strad sound.

I’m FAIRLY sure they are made in the same factory as Carol Brass. I’ve owned a few of those, I think they are a really good value, and they do play well. Depending on your definition of “well.”
