Hi!
A while ago I received a solotone mute, from the H & B company. (new, premiere).
I forgot it in my case until now. I start the rehearsals of a new broadway show (Anastasia) and I should use it. I found the inner tube quite twisted and tilted. I guess it's a manufacturing error. can no longer be returned to the store (long time to return to USA). Is there any option to fix? I am afraid to force with my hand, I see it fragile and easy to break. I do not know if this will affect the tone, I have never played before with one.

Thank you

And how does it sound when you play it? It may play fine for what you're doing.

Some notes sound descendant and not coherent with the rest, even with a little "strange buzz" in the attack

Could you get by with harmon plus stem for now, and order a Warburton/Mutemeister Showtone?

I have heard wonders of the mutemeister showtone. The problem is that the trial period has ended in the store where I bought it (thomann). also the shipping to Spain is expensive, danger of additional cost in the customs (and I have spent a lot) and the mute is expensive to use (only 30 bars throughout the show)

I purchased a new one last year to use in Caberet. I found the same thing as you. The stem was not centered. I sent it back and used a cup. Maybe you got mine? Lol

Someone gave me an old one. Same thing. I didn't care much about the mute so I bent it back. The buzz stopped and I used it for the show.

I've seen a lot of Solotone mutes where the tube is off center. I've never detected that the offset tube caused playing problems.
