Hello fellow trumpeters,

I'm a bit confused about the Curry 600 series.

I currently use a modern Bach 10.5c mouthpiece (15.9 mm ird) and want to try the Curry 600 series.

The Curry website says the 20m is equivalent to the Bach 10.5 diameter, but it also states that the 20m has an ird of 15.7 mm, while the 30m is 16.0 mm - closer to the Bach 10.5

Anyone who has experience with Curry 20 and/or 30 mouthpieces care to comment on this subject? Will the 20m feel closer to the Bach 10.5 regardless of the difference in diameter?

Thanks!

to me, the 30 rim feels closer.

by the way...the curry 10,5 diameter is much smaller than the bach 10,5.

bach 10.5C is just slightly smaller than the 600 series size 30. 1 MM smaller. Its as close an ID as you will find, The 30 rim may feel a lot bigger to you than the bach though, because of the difference in bite, Bachs typically have a sharper bite than currys, some people like that some people hate that.
I like the curry bite myself. If your looking for more Zing in the sound go with the M cup or if your looking for something similar to your bach C cup sound, go with the curry 30C in a Bach blank, still has a little more zing than the bach but not as much as the M cup.

Yes, ID measure aside, the Curry 20 feels closer to the Bach 10.5. That is probably why Curry gave the 20 as a Bach 10.5 equivalent.

The Curry 30 feels quite a bit bigger.

If you have a chance, try the Curry 10.5. I think it is copied off a Mt Vernon 10.5C. It is slightly smaller but an excellent option for 10.5 players as well.

Cheers

Curry makes two 10.5 C's. A standard 10.5C and on request a 10.5 C MV.

Thanks for the replies.

After a little bit of online reading I'm tending towards the Curry 10.5c. I just hope its rim and its "bite" is as comfortable as Bach's 10.5c!

That's a good decision. I can vouch for the 10 1/2C M.V. that Curry makes. The rim very soft and round. Plays great.
