Ciro Basili, previously with Bonna (I think) took an order from me for his beautiful cases. (virtually the same as Bonna onlyabout half the price.) I have two of his cases as well as some of the guys in the San Jose, Ca. Symphony. He does a beautiful leather and a nylon in all configurations. He ships direct to you ...no dealer and takes Paypal.

(I have no interest financially, in Basilli cases..just an FYI.)
Just contact him by Email...usually takes a few days for his response.

My wife grew up in Brazil as as music missionary kid, so I had her construct an email in Portuguese to Ciro Basili. I sent the email this morning, and he responded late this afternoon (in Portuguese). ALaschiver had already told us above that it normally takes a few days for him to reply (in English), so I was glad to put my wife's foreign language skills to use (although we haven't gotten to the point in discussion of whether she'll let me buy one or not!). Ciro said that he was away from the activity of making cases for a few months but has returned. I specifically asked about adding wheels, and he said that he does not make cases with wheels, because he hasn't been able to find the right materials (wheels and housing) to make them dependable.

His quote today [7/2/18] was $290 for leather; $220 for nylon.
Economy shipping: $70 (25-30 days to the U.S.).
Express shipping: $120 (5-10 days).
ALaschiver recommended requesting bubble-wrap around the case; otherwise, Ciro would send it just in a cardboard shipping box. He also said to do the expedited shipping (FedEx or UPS) due to his experience with USPS.

Ciro missed my question about build time; I'll share that once I hear back from him.
Yes, he takes PayPal: cirobasili@gmail.com
I've ordered the quad in brown leather with blue interior. Why, you might ask? Cuz I ain't got no other cases dat look like dat, dat's why. I'll post pics when I get it. Meanwhile, these are the pics he sent me (that Alaschiver had already kindly sent me via PM)...

He said it would be 30 days from the point of the order. I am paying for Express Shipping. Oh, and after you order, he will send a PayPal bill, which does not go to his email address, btw. To avoid hassling my wife further, I started using Google Translate, one sentence at a time, and it works!

He originally made the cases sold by Marcus Bonna, so if you get a Basili custom case, that's essentially what it is. (At least that's my understanding - if I'm not correct and someone knows the correct information, please feel free to correct me.)

That's probably where I'll go the next time I want a case for something.

This was my first time to use Google Photos and thought I could post without issue, but apparently there is. Try these that I've placed in my own Dropbox (for now)...

Basili case leather exterior color choices:

Basili Quad Trumpet Case, interior view:

I have asked him to send me pics of other exterior nylon color options and interior colors, but haven't heard back from him. He shipped several cases to one of his vendors, who then retracted the PayPal payment, and he has been unsuccessful in getting that person to pay. Very sad to hear.

I received the quad trumpet case from Ciro Basili yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous look and superb workmanship! I may order some other sizes soon. I recommend using Google Translate <https://translate.google.com> to expedite the process. Just translate sentences to Portuguese and send to him [cirobasili@gmail.com]. He had some issues with his PayPal account, so it may be different going forward, but he is super dependable, and the price is extremely reasonable ($410 total, including expedited shipping...about six days to the U.S...and that was for leather exterior!). I plan to leave the links of images below accessible for at least a few weeks...

My custom quad case included a zippered sheet music pouch, but no backpack straps nor wheels. This design has two individual trumpet slots at the front when you open it, and a single slot at the back where two trumpets can be stacked, which would work great for rotaries (or pistons). He offered backpack straps, but I did not want them. I rarely use the backpack feature on any of my cases, because it's too hot most of the year where I live, and I don't mind the workout with my arms. If you spend lots of time walking around campus or in a big city, then get the backpack straps for sure. As for the wheels, he has not found a reliable source for them in Brazil (yet), but if that is a must for you, you could always inquire–he may find a source based on your request alone! He could have made this case to accommodate space for a laptop, if I had wanted. Super nice guy. Response was fairly quickly. From what others had told me in their correspondence, using Google Translate really helped me get quicker responses.

I can tell from what he has shared that he has suffered some injustices that have set him back, both financially and psychologically, so for any of you considering a new case, you would actually be supplying a "boost" to a guy who could really use it. Nevertheless, he does superb high-end custom work and for a very reasonable fee. Time from order to delivery was about six weeks.

Does anyone know if Basili Cases are still in business? I had emailed Ciro, but wasn't sure if he was still around?

I have a triple, with the wheel/handle kit, but the handle no longer stays connected to the section fixed to the back of the case...

Anyone else have one that handle broke? of know if Ciro is still making cases/parts?
