For several weeks now I find that if I am logged in and go to write and submit a post or reply to a thread, when I hit "Submit" it goes to the log in page with blank name and password areas as if I was not logged in. I find that I can retrieve what I wrote by hitting the return button, then copying my (unsubmitted) text, re-logging in, and quickly submitting the post before I get automatically logged out again. What's up with this?

Cheers,

John

P.S. And it just happened with this post.

Happens to me, too! Been happening about as long as I've been a member here.

I've not seen that but intermittently when I click "Submit" it goes to "Preview". If I don't notice I risk closing the page and losing my post.

This happened to me regularly over this past Winter. I started copying everything before hitting "Submit" just in case. Then, the problem just stopped happening some months ago with no specific action on my part.

Couple of thoughts - are you clicking the "Log me on automatically each visit:" button when you log in?

I wonder if it could be a browser issue. Have you tried clearing your cache before logging in?

Anyone still having an issue with this? I just had to log in four times while I was trying to submit a single post.

Back at it again for me as well. Not all of the time but often enough to make the situation a minor irritation. The workaround is not that difficult, but I sometimes forget to copy before hitting Submit, and then, there it is!

Still doing it. Seems that if you spend more than a minute or so typing a post and try to preview or submit, it does this. If it is just a few words, it works fine. Some kind of time-out thing or parameter that is not set properly.

Or perhaps this software is like my turn-of-the-century cars, things are wearing out and need replacing? Surely there are some IT guys that are members that can spend some time looking for the why of this?

Yep, in the time it took me to type the above, it logged me off, and I type fast...

Test. Waiting for 2 or 3 minutes..did not log me out..waiting..past 5 minute mark, let's see...OK, did log me out after about 5 minutes or so..

This is definitely a time out parameter, don't know whether it is my ISP or the software on the site.

Hope this helps...

May be on our end. Could be browser (firefox) privacy settings, tracking protection settings, cookie settings, could be Avast anti-virus. This winter when it is too nasty to get out, I will play with settings and such.

Dang, did it again!

I have noticed something similar happening on one of my webmail providers. Years ago, I liked fooling with computer stuff. Not anymore!

Editorial:

I am rapidly losing patience with the apparent assigning of IT personell, coders, etc. busy-work to move stuff around on screens on websites. Kind of like WalMart moving the merchandise to different isles so you will look at other stuff.

I am getting old and crochety...but I guess if you have them on the payroll, you have to give them something to do, else they will sit around and socialize...can't have that, now can we?

I'm seeing the same think on Safari even while the site says I'm logged in. I've also experienced that clicking log out and then logging back in does not fix the issue. I have to refresh the site (logged out) and then login to enable posting. Perhaps there is a time out on a persistent cookie that could be extended to some longer duration (say a couple of/few hours)?

I've now noticed that when I click "submit" that it routinely returns with an "invalid session" warning, not "preview" as I first thought. Clicking "submit" a second time always works, so far.

Started happening to me a few weeks ago on my laptop. Never happens on my phone, though.
