I'd like to invite all interested trumpeters to contact me for information about a Graduate Assistant position in trumpet beginning Fall 2019 at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
https://wmich.edu/music/academics/grad/assistantships
This assistantship is part of WMU's Graduate Winds Program. This program is unique at the Master's Level and offers participants the opportunity to rehearse and perform as members of the Graduate Brass Quintet along with the Western Winds, a chamber ensemble of graduate students and their studio faculty mentors. The university and surrounding region provide many other professional and scholastic performance opportunities as well. Our current GA's did their undergraduate studies at Michigan State University and the University of Arkansas.
Besides this assistantship, there are other GA positions in the School of Music in such areas as Music Education, Music Technology, Marching Band Staff, etc.
WMU trumpet faculty are Professors Scott Thornburg and Robert White, both members of the Western Brass Quintet.
Competitive assitantship and scholarship packages are available. Please contact me for more information. robert.white@wmich.edu
Here's a link to the trumpet listing itself (from last year, but info is expected to remain the same):

Recent graduates of and current students at WMU have won prestigious honors such as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's African-American Fellowship, prizes in ITG's Solo, Orchestral Excerpts, and Military Band Excerpts competitions, and positions with several orchestras and military bands. Recent guest artists include Mark Gould, David Bilger, and Alex Jokipii. Guest artists coming in this year include the Seraph Brass, Thomas Hooten, and jazz great Mike Rodriguez. Please get in touch for more information!
