I have recently acquired a trumpet , to revisit my youth, and am trying to research it. It is a Couesnon Paris 39477 Monopole Conservatoires. It has a sprung loaded lever adjuster to valve one( I have not seen one like it before) I would have posted pictures but have not got a degree in how to work this site. It also has a star emblem on the bell and made in France. On valve two it has the letter B.
I have read about the factory fire but hope someone might be able to help.

I don’t have direct experience with Couesnon, but the lever on the first slide is a trigger, it’s an intonation aid. Notes played that use the the first valve can be lowered in pitch by using the trigger. They are relatively common, though sometimes they are a special order item.

Thanks, its just I have not seen any on other Couesnon trumpets that I have seen online. I would really love to know the history on this instrument.

There is still a Cousenon factory in France.
http://www.pgm-couesnon.fr/

You could write to them, depending on how good your French is, or google the brand and there are several other resources w/general information.

For a novice, don't take this too literally. It is most often used to compensate for low D and Db, which also uses the third, and third and second fingers respectively, also.
