Hiya folks. I'm a comeback player in the UK who had to sell his Strad to raise money. I needed a replacement horn and always wanted a Martin. So casually perusing Ebay, fainting at the prices Committees fetch, I spotted a Martin handcraft Standard with a stuck mouthpiece and detached leadpipe. I bought it and spent a few quid having it fixed. It sounds fantastic, even with me blowing it.

I researched the serial number and it comes out at circa 1936. It has reversed leadpipe and just sounds sublime. I contacted the guy who sold it me to thank him. He then told me how he came by the horn. He acquired it from the family of a british WWII soldier. The soldier had been a member of the Guards band and the story goes that he swapped horns with a GI who brought it with him from the US.
I can't help wondering if the GI could have been a member of Glenn Miller's band.
He he, Who knows?.
