Hello trumpet player
I have a bb trumpet Bach Strad. Mt. Vernon. Now with a leadpipe MTV525 by Charlie Melk. Do you have any experience with this leadpipe?

I have Melk MTV525 reversed leadpipe/SR tuning slide on my standard weight Bach 37G.

I have a Melk MTV525 leadpipe with MTV receiver on my late 90s Strad and it improved my horn immensely. With the stock pipe the horn was very stuff above the staff. The Melk pipe opened it up just enough to facilitate the upper register without changing the characteristic sound of the 37 Strad.

Thank you for being helpful.

I believe he was only getting in his posts to place an ad in the marketplace.

If I am wrong, my apologies - but the ad went up right after the posts.......

I recently bought a used Strad that has an MTV-525 leadpipe. It is unfinished brass and fully tarnished. I've been advised against trying to make it look nicer since it will just tarnish again right away. Is this how all MTV-525's look, or are some finished and shiney? Thanks

I tried the MT525 and MTVMV on my old 72 Vindabona, and the MV was marginally better for me. Slightly darker, but was open above the staff. I have the 525 on my 37.

For my older Bach, I play tested 3 leadpipes and used the lead pipe tool Charlie sent, it was a fun, amazing experience to switch them out and fine tune the instrument. So fun.

Thanks very much. I'm one of those people who played half-decently in high school (50 years ago), now trying to advance beyond that in retirement and finally getting into better instruction and better equipment. Having access to experienced experts is a blessing. Many thanks.
