Hi there. I'm searching for a good version of Gloria for trumpet and organ. I have the arr. Maurice played that I may do but, that takes a lot of chop and i'm worries I might not make the last bar which to me makes the whole piece. so I found an arrangement that Michael Rondeau did on imslp but i can't find a recording anywhere, as with a lot of his arrangements. Anyone have or know of this arrangement and where I might hear it? Looking over the score, I don't hear anything that sounds like Gloria in excelsis deo, so I just want to hear it. _________________ Bach 25 Bb - GR G66CX

That Maurice Andre arrangement is hard, especially if you have to play it at multiple services. I haven't looked at the Rondeau version, but I believe a lot of his arrangements also have links to a Finale file. Perhaps you can listen to the midi version of it?
I'm not sure if all versions of Finale have midi playback, but you don't necessarily need the full version. You might be able to do midi playback on a basic version. Check his website for a Finale link. |

Sure enough! Found the midi file on imslp. guess I didn't look hard enough.
...Sounds nothing like Gloria. Not even really in the organ part. Guess i'll play around with the Andre version and see if it's doable. I'm sure I can play the majority of it but i'm not all that confident I can't play a high F at FF and for a long enough fermata lol! _________________ Bach 25 Bb - GR G66CX

I once played the M.Andre's version of Gloria in Excelsis Deo.
First arpeggio to the D ( D F# A DDDDD ), the tuning pipe kind of unscrewed ( no pressure playing ) and I had to play the entire segment with a nicely sharp trumpet ! As a teacher of mine said ' you'd better play high than out of tune '. That was quite difficult to try and play ' as much in tune as possible ', jaw opened as much as I could.....
Incredibly beautiful piece ! |
