Hi.
It's my first time in the forum.
I need help.
Does anyone know this type of horn? In the bell has both F Besson Brevete and Couesnon stamped ???
The horn has the shape of Couesnon with the letter B stamped on the second valve .. but does not have a serial number on any part of the horn?
Could it be a fake ?????
I hope you can help me with this.
Thank you!
Regards
PS I'm not good at English

I would love to see pictures of that horn, did you mean that the bell has both F. Besson and Couenson stamped on it or just Couenson "Brevette"? |

Once upon a time (1950-1960) Couesnon acquired, or merged with F. Besson..They were neighbors in the Rue dAngouleme in Paris anyway.
I owned a 1960"s F. Besson Artist flugel once and it was a spitting image of the Couesnon Monopole. It also played at least as well.
Your horn may well be from that transition period. |

My Besson had no serial number.
The only markings were (as far as I recall, and apart from the bell markings) a capital "A" on the mouthpiece receiver, a "B" on the bell side of the second valve housing, and the rather usual 1, 2, and 3 marks on the valve housings.
It was nickel plated. The bottom-sprung valves were also nickel. spotless and very slick.
Hope this helps. |

PS: at present I play a 1982 Kanstul Besson Brevete, and I rather hate to admit that this is a superior instrument.
If you can get one of those, grab it. |
