Hey, gang. I'm really enjoying the trumpet playing on tonight's Golden Globe Awards show. Any idea who's in the section? Tutti bravi! |

According to a face book post from a reed player buddy in LA, he did 60 pre-recorded cues for the show. Nothing was performed live.
This year it was an 8-piece band. I remember back when it was basically a big band with strings.
One trumpet - Kye Palmer. Kai is a SoCal native, studied at Fullerton City College, got a degree in engineering (yeah - he's a brainiac), toured with Woody Herman in the early 90s, and took over The Tonight Show trumpet slot when Lee Thornburg was let go.
Pretty sure he studied with Bobby Shew, among others. _________________ Tim Wendt

The other was Dave Richards, a phenomenal musician and arranger/composer, out of UNT. AND a good guy.
