What Mouthpiece does Phil Use ? Is their something similar in terms
To a modern mouthpiece ? I know not all mouthpieces fit every player but I am just curious.

Thanks

According to this four-year-old thread on the "other" trumpet board, at that time he was playing a Marcinkiewicz Roy Roman model. As I recall, that's a very wide, shallow cup -- like a Bach 1E.

I think there was a Monette designed for him also...something like BLXW -- similar to what was described above: wide diameter, shallow cup.

There was, it was called a "PD" model. I have one. Very large rim diameter, very shallow cup. Reminds me of a Jet-Tone T2B I used to own.

I have owned a Roy Roman mouthpiece for many years.
Every once in a while I drag it out and it plays well for me for about a week or two.

I am on week two again after several years on a smaller piece.
So far, it is working well.

I went to it this time for swollen morning chops, and it seemed to help.
It seems I have to use a relaxed embouchure with it.

Big sound of course!

Downside: My Flugel and Cornet mouthpieces feel super small now and they are a Yamaha 14f4 and Schilke 18B4 cornet. Man!

Roy speaks of Phil being his student on his we page.
