Yesterday I received the Getzen 381 Shepherd's crook cornet. The lacquer was in amazing great shape with minor scratches. Very small dent in the crease of the bell. Otherwise it looked like a new horn. After giving it a bath, freed the slides and bottom caps. The bottom caps and bottom of the pistons had a black tar substance on them. Cleaned the cornet with isopropyl alcohol.
The cornet sounded great with my 1.5 cornet mouthpiece. It pairs well with my
Getzen Capri trumpet.

| I have a Getzen 300 "American" wrap and I like it. I think I paid $60 for it several years ago. I use it for out-door dixieland and funny-band gigs. I acquired a King Master cornet a while back, but it is heavy and I prefer the student Getzen. Years ago I had an Olds Ambassador short model which I never should have sold (heard that before?). I sold it to a guy in the BBBand I was leaving. Enjoy. |

Sent an email last night to Mary Rima at Getzen. So I own a Getzen 381 S Shepherd's crook cornet. S indicates 1st slide thumb saddle option.

| No S for silverplated? All the 300/400 cornets have a 1st slide thumb saddle (at least that says my local shop). |

According to Mary Rima at Getzen, my cornet was made before the 1st slide thumb saddle was standard.

Just for fun, listed the Getzen 381 Shepherd's crook cornet on ebay. Within the hour, someone bid on it for the asking price. Also no waiting on payment. Will ship out tomorrow.
