I live in the central Wisconsin area and I was wondering if we have any other players here. I'm looking for a good music shop but all I've seen around here is Heid or Jim Laabs. They don't seem to have a necessarily large collection of quality brass instruments on command.

yeah, but do you have any quality brass instruments?

Actually, if you have a storefront or entertain visitors your shop would be high on my list if I were in the area.

Ah, Getzen. Always been my dream horn, never been able to afford the one I want, so I wait for that day. Is there an actual store I could go to in Elkhart, or is that just business / factory ?

We purchased our Honor Guard Bugle (Field Trumpet Elite) from the Getzen Factory. It is a great place to visit. The tour was very nice!

I'm here!

Interstate Music in New Berlin has a small but good selection. Plus, plenty of players who might let you play their horns a bit.

You might consider going to the next Chicago Trumpet Hang... plenty of horns to try there.

I've considered it, but I believe a 16 year old would be terribly out of place at such an event.

I once went to the USA in 2001 for a 3 months internship at out head engineering facility that is located in Milwaukee.
I didn't play trumpet then but I was interested in playing mouth harp and I bought a Hohner harmonica in one of the shopping malls (probably somewhere in Fox Point but I don't remember exactly).
I learned to play 'My Bonnie lies over the ocean' on it when I returned home to Europe and then put it away to collect dust.

That's all I know about music business in Wisconsin, sorry...
Oh, by the way - if it counts: several times we went via Kenosha on highway and later on I learned that there was a large Leblanc facilty located there which is now sadly closed. I own a few vintage music equipment units made in Kenosha (including a Vito alto sax) and they remind me of that wonderful period we spend in the US.
Yesterdays, yesterdays...

There have been before. I think you would find a lot of benefit from it.

Our family is in southeast Wisconisn, Milwaukee county. My 10-year-old son has a hand-me-down King 600 trumpet that his uncle played in high school, and I am eyeing up a secondhand bugle for him for Boy Scouts (he'll cross over in a year).

Visiting the Getzen factory sounds like a great adventure!
