The new Getzen Eterna with the copper bell is a gorgeous looking horn.
What effect does the copper bell have on the way the horn sounds?

Thanks,
John

I agree that it's gorgeous. But, it also uses a silver lead pipe, so direct comparison of the effect of the bell would have to be described by the development staff. I'd like to try one!

There is one reason that I practice: to be ready at the downbeat when the final trumpet sounds.

The biggest improvement on both horns is more how the bells were made rather than the material used. Both of the 900DLX and 907DLX are sheet and sheet two-piece bells vs. the original tube and sheet bells found on the originals.

The sterling lead pipes add a more dynamic and complex tone and slightly improved the response.

The bronze valve casings have the same effect to a lesser degree and are just that little bit smoother.

All three, bell lead pipe and valve sections, made substantial enough improvements to the horn that I’d be surprised if anyone preferred the original models to the Deluxe ones.

We weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel here. We were trying to refine it in a way that paid homage to the originals, the Super Deluxe models and the heritage of our 80th anniversary. I think we did just that.
