After five years of EWI, I got my hands on the NuEvi by Johan Berglund from Sweden. The transition from EWI to EVI is going rather well, although it takes some time, because of the greater sensibility and possibilities of this new EVI. I took some old books and pieces for trumpet and tried to play them on EVI, which can be a real challenge. Instead of the embouchure, everything comes down to your fingers and your coordination between left and right hand, tongue and breath. This takes a lot of time, but it is really worth the effort. In this clip I recorded the Concert Etude by Goedicke. Besides the fast runs and double tongue (which really translates well to the EVI) it takes cantabile playing, vibrato and musicality to really play it well. It was a nice adventure to practice and record it. Enjoy!

Nice playing!
Do you have links or any more info on the NuEvi? I went to the Berglund Instruments website but there didn't seem to be much there. I've been interested in possibly getting into an EVI or EWI. Thanks. _________________ - Keith |

It looks like they are still setting up their website. Thoughtful layouts with beautiful pictures, details "written" in lorem ipsum...... _________________ Enjoy the journey. |

They are on Facebook. Johan Berglund has a page, and Berglund Instruments has a page. Maybe you can contact them via Messenger. That is what I did. You could also contact Mark Steiner, the nephew of Nyle Steiner, inventor of the EVI. Both Johan and Mark are super nice and willing to help you. The only thng is, the NuEvi is a 3d-printed instrument, handcrafted, so they have a bit of a wating line. I don't know how it is now, but I had to wait about 7-8 months, but it is well worth it, such a nice instrument! _________________ http://cdbaby.com/cd/triobertlochs
