I wanted to draw some attention to my latest project. a Youtube-channel where I will upload one or two tracks per week. The tracks are so called trading tracks: tracks where you take turns with me, Trading fours or two's has been a tremendous help in my own learning process and in my teaching as well. Exercises and standards, for the aspiring student struggling with long chord changes and getting lost. The idea is like improvising with sidewheels. I play something, after that you have four bars to try your own, copy me or come up with something new. I hope this will contribute to having a fun time learning jazz and changes. Get inspired and have fun!

Great idea! I probably have learned more about improvisation by role modeling great players on gigs than any other method......I also like that it forces you to rest as much as you play so you do not bash up your chops! All the best with it. |

Yes, that is certainly very good for us trumpeters! The methodology is meant for all players, mostly horns can benefit, I think, because piano players, bass players and drummers simply face other challenges, and I think all can benefit from the simple fact that you have time to think, listen and prepare the next four bars. I plan to make many more tracks with slightly different goals: learning licks, scales, modulations etc, but I had to start somewhere. _________________ http://cdbaby.com/cd/triobertlochs

Hey Bert... Nice Idea! I'll just throw a random suggestion out there...
I know you can find these changes easily from other sources but it might be nice to display them within or overlaid on the 'floating note' background that you are using. _________________ MH |

Well, there is another problem with having the chord sheet over the background: which key should it be in? Most likely concert, but this method is meant for beginning and moderate players to develop their skills. In my experience they don't get this very fast, and I didn't only make it for trumpet players either, so B-flat won't do either. I think it is better if you look the chord progreesions up yourself. It saves me time, and iReal Pro is very cheap and easy to access and has every chord sheet available. I use them myself for making these tracks! _________________ http://cdbaby.com/cd/triobertlochs
