I came across a Youtube video of a bugle core from Spain. They were using what looked like small bugle with a simple fingers activated rotary valve and playing very high notes on it. I now know it's called a Carmen cornet or Corneta EspaƱola. The soloist Dani De Baza was playing - He is well known in Spain.
Here is an interesting article by Rich Colquhoun of Trumpet Planet:

Here is a picture of the instrument:

For those who will feel the urge to go out and buy a Carmen Cornet:
Honsuy PercusiĆ³n: http://honsuy.com
Honorato S.A.: http://honorato.com
StarSmakers: http://tinyurl.com/yy2333ne
It looks like Honorato is the corneta division of Honiba, the parent company of Stomvi.
Advanced players will have, at a minimum, two cornetas: One is Db/C and another in C/Bb. There is also a corneta in B/Bb. _________________ Enjoy the journey. |
