Hi all,

I created this piece for kids who have too big of a gap in their third valve slide ring. Ive been testing it in my school (im a hs senior) and they all love it. I dont know how much use you all can get out of it, but I wanted to get it out there.

Here is the link to the etsy page: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TrumpetSlider

(I would insert a picture, but I cannot seem to figure out how)

In other words, the Bach crowd. Most horns, including mine, have an adjustable third valve slide: King, Olds, Jupiter, etc.

Nice. There's a couple of these on thingiverse but they are thin (modeled after the metal originals probably) and not available in multiple finger sizes like yours.

I just saw today someone selling an "insert" for the third-valve-slide ring to reduce the diameter. Seems like this sort of thing could also be easily 3d-printed. https://www.trumpetgapper.com/

You might consider selling the .STL files - if your market is school kids, a lot of high schools and even some middle schools now have labs with 3d printers.

Hmm. I have always found the adjustable slide rings to be the exception.

I don't understand... I think the OP's product is designed to reduce the diameter of the ring... for players with smaller fingers. It would only be usable on instruments that already have adjustable slide rings, replacing the OEM metal one. On my Yamaha the ring is soldered in place, so I couldn't replace it with Ian's design.

Or does a King/Olds/Jupiter have a slide ring that is somehow adjustable in diameter? I haven't seen that.

Nice idea!... I guess I've always felt like there was too much space in my slide rings!
