|

I have what looks to be a new Yamaha flugel-serial number is in the 800,000 range. It comes with all the paperwork and a bar code. There's no A at the end of the serial number-but it is marked model YFH 2310A on the bar code. It's stamped "assembled in USA" on the valve casing.
Just curious-assuming this horn is relatively recent-within the last decade-where would it have been assembled? Does Yamaha have a factory in the US? Or would some US company have assembled flugels for Yamaha?
I have an older YFH 231 made in Japan. The two are identical aside from stampings and they play just alike-it's hard to tell them apart. |

The reason you can’t tell them apart is the parts were originally made in Japan, but one was final assembled and finished in Grand Rapids, MI. Yamaha has since closed the US plant in favor of off shoring their student models to their factory in China. _________________ James Becker

So-Yamaha did have a factory in the US. Cool. I didn't know that. It's a shame it closed. Thanks for the info! |
