Can anyone recommend a good orchestral transcription or arrangement of Sousa's "Stars & Stripes Forever"?
My first criterion for "good" would be that it's not arranged by Stokowski. _________________ '75 Bach Strad 180ML/37

I think that we used the Keith Brion arrangement. It was nice, and not particularly taxing for the trumpets. Just be advised that it is arranged for a "full" orchestra. I believe there were four trumpet parts, and multiple parts for trombone, oboe, bassoon...so may require some tweaking for a community orchestra without a full complement of instruments. |

Thanks. Brion's version sounds much more Sousa-like than Stokowski's elevator muzak version. We can cover the parts, and the price is right. _________________ '75 Bach Strad 180ML/37
