|
|
The other day I fired up Finale for the first time in many years and transcribed a Xmas tune for brass quartet.
"We Wish You A Merry Xmas" in the style of a Bach Fugue, dubbed: "Bring Us A Fuguey Pudding"
Yeah, I know it's fu$%!ng April but in my defence, it's a very clever little arrangement. The arranger is Jonathan Mui:

I guess I should add that IMHO this isn't a "read on your Xmas gig" arrangement. Seems to me this arrangement/transcription would need some woodsheding and rehearsal for the group to pull it off.

Love this! I'm a big fan of doing things in the style of a Bach fugue - one of my favorite videos of that on youtube is the fugue rendition of All Star by Smash Mouth! |

Thanks for the vote of confidence but the more I look at it the more I am convinced that I should have done some additional editing and simplified portions of the fugue. I also could have done a better job doling out rests. _________________ In his retirement he had become that most dreaded of former athletes, the one who always remembered how much harder it was in his day "when ships were made of wood and men were made of steel."
