Who is this top maker that recommends this stuff?
The guy was instrumental in the development of the Conn Vintage One. He restored a couple of horns for a friend and gave him the Blue Juice for both. After the break-in, any oil can be used. I'll ask him if I can use his name.

Fred powell had his hand in the Vintage one i know.

p.s. oiling your valves down the slides seems to be an inefficient delivery system.. doesn't it just go through the ports and out to be emptied?

Aren't the slide tubes partially blocked when the valves are up? So some oil would end up on the piston.

Interesting, some said Blue Juice worked well in tighter valved horns, but my experience is the opposite.
I find it great for a loosely made horn like my Mack Brass stencil bass trumpet -- in fact it was recommended for that horn by Tom at Mack brass.
I tried it in a Yamaha YTR-4335 and found it no go and did not like it in my Schilke X3L.
It worked well in my old well used Olds Ambassador from the 1960's when my son was attempting to play it.
So my conclusion was that it worked fine in horns with loose valves.
I use Hetman #1 Light Piston for most of my horns other than the bass trumpet now.
I like the synthetics over the petroleum based oils (= Blue Juice) for the tighter valved horns.

I'll buy any product that can make me sound like Chris Martin.

I use Blue Juice, but it hasn't worked yet. Maybe I'll give it more time...

None of the makers I know (outside of UMI) recommend petroleum based oils any more.

I recall Jack Kanstul not recommending a particular petro oil, but I can't remember what he did recommend for their horns.

Blue Juice does not work on my Schilke valves. It actually made them stick which is kind of the opposite effect you want in your valve oil. I was told by Schilke to get a thinner oil for their close tight valves. I am sure it works fine for other horns..

i had the exact opposite experience with my Schilke M11.
