I need some help identifying a maker for a mouthpiece that I stumbled upon. There are no markings, but it has a distinct profile to it. It's very likely that this piece spent some time among Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass section (if that helps).

It may just be a custom piece... and therefore unidentifiable. But check out these profile pictures and see if anyone on here can assign a maker to it:

Thanks for your best detective work!

hmmmmmm. I have 1 or 2 similar to that...my best guess is that a trumpeter who makes mouthpieces (like Scott Holbert) may have made it for himself & not written anything on it.......

I've seen a few of these shape mouthpieces bought in lots I picked up.

They were always void of markings but looked well made.

There were a lot of makers in that era...the design of the piece looks 60-70ish.....maybe made by Jk in Germany or Reinhart.......??

Just trying to put a name to the proverbial face, not an ambitious goal. I've had this piece for over 10 years... It plays quite nice as a relatively shallow piece with a comfortable rim and a lot of weight. It would be nice to be able to say who the maker likely was in conversation.

pretty obvious goal.....

im surprised nobody knows. I think ive seen pieces with the notch in the shank between top and shank, but the shape of the top is unfamiliar. I cant place who made the notch, and the top might a "heavy" variant. Cant place it though and ive thought about it a fair amount.
