I am killing time at the group home tonight and I just searched everything of Don Ellis' and the only La Fiesta I find is a cut by Maynard Ferguson done on the Chameleon album written by Chic Corea. I loved Ellis, too. Had two of his albums and soundtrack from French Connection back in the day. It shows Don was a side man with Maynard several times back as far as Maynard's Music for Dancing in 1959. I got that album in the early sixties and tried to wear it out. I wish you luck in the search.

Thanks. Due to the dearth of responses, I guess it's pretty obscure. I understand it's great and it's out there, but I just can't find it.

BTW, along the lines of Maynard's dance music of he late 50s/early 60s, do you know the album, I think that was the name, "Swinging my Way Through College"? I faintly remember such an album but can't find anything on it, also?

Thanks, mm55. I meant a recording that I could hear. Guess I wasn't clear.

Searched high and low and could not find anything that included Don Ellis and La Fiesta. Would have loved to hear it played by Don.

I did find the Maynard album on Amazon. Only available on MP3 or vinyl....that is unless you can find the Complete Roulette Recordings box set and you have a couple of hundred dollars to spare.
