I've been listening to a number of Callet tapes and the sound, for me, is . . lacking. I just don't get the beauty in the tone. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I've been listening to the examples picked by Callet, himself. I guess there is a greater choice.

The real issue is whether there are Callet-style players who DO have the sound quality that you want.

This is something that gets brought up fairly frequently on this forum - an embouchure technique doesn't dictate the sound you create but Jerry did devote a lot of effort to teaching people to listen to quality players and notice the similarities in their sound.

Quality trumpet sound should be centered and controlled. This is talked about in quite a lot of detail in this interview that I did yesterday:

It's only the first in a series of discussions.

These are players that I love listening to! I get the impression from Jerry's videos that he was focused purely on the physical aspects of the trumpet (and TCE in general for other instruments too), and that he was trying to impart as much of his area of learning as he possibly could, to folks of tremendously disparate musical levels, from near-beginners all the way to top symphonic and lead/jazz players.

I agree completely with this.
