Hi guys,
I want to really dive into Parker blues changes in F.
Which heads there are to shed beside
Blues for Alice. Sippin at Bells?
What are your favourite recordings of trumpet players blowing on these changes?
Thanks!

Have you had any luck finding any more of these?
How about:
Freight Trane (Flanagan)
Bluesette (Thielmann)
Jack Spratt (Stitt)
There are also tunes like Confirmation and There Will Never Be Another You which contain part of the progression. _________________ Schagerl Sig. James Morrison

i think that freddie playing byrdlike is a great example. The changes to the head are more complicated than what is happening through his solo, depending on the bar. They are basically do the stuff that a rhythm section would do on "parker" blues, or "bebop" blues. Just a blues that goes ii7-V7 starting at bar 9. And in bar 7 and 8 it's iidim7-V7alt of ii. Basically added "two-fives" here and there _________________ Mouthpiece Maker

Bird also used those Blues For Alice changes on Laird Baird, which is in B♭ . . . and I realize I'm not giving you the information you're looking for, but I thought you might find that interesting. _________________ Puttin’ On The Ritz |

Thanks!
It seems that there are no other heads on the changes of Blues for Alice.

In my Ultimate Blues Workout book I have a blues over those changes in the key of D. I named it Blue Baird.
But this might be deemed as shameless self-promotion. Oh, well. 😉 _________________ Puttin’ On The Ritz |
