After having rotor cuff surgery, I am going to try the ErgoBrass unit. In my shows I have to switch from trumpet to flugel and back again frequently. Is it possible/practical to use one ErgoBrass with both horns and just buy another mounting plate for the flugelhorn or should I plan on buying two units with each one dedicated to specific horn?

I welcome any suggestions.

Looks like you have to pull the pin out to release the horn and then attach the other horn and insert the pin. I guess it depends on how fast you have to switch.

Wow this is really innovative. Has anyone ever tried this gadget? Aside from having a physical condition like in the OP's case, i'm just really curious if the benefits of it are worth potential hassle of using a contraption like this.

I'd love to hear anyone's first hand experiences.

Yes it is possible to switch. That's why they sell additionnel plates on the website.

For an exemple in live situation, Nicholas Payton is using it to be able to play piano with his free hand.

I have an ergobrass for trombone and I think where it attaches to the trombone, it's fairly firm and certainly couldn't be used in a quick situation like you describe. I am assuming that the system is, in concept, the same as trumpet

Do I understand you that you want to remove the mounting device from the trumpet and put it on the flugelhorn quickly? If that is the case, I don't think you could do that.

I have a degenerative muscular condition in my upper arms and use the Ergo brass on my trumpets. It's a wonderful invention and I couldn't play without it. I have six horns I play regularly so I have multiple plates and a single Ergo brass support. Switching is simple and could easily be done in a show. It would require 20 or 30 seconds to complete. I would think with a little practice you could chop that time down. The biggest problem I have found is that if you aren't careful when attaching the spring clip there is a chance you will scratch the valves. Good luck.

Hello,
It looks like Nick Payton is using a different wrist support for his trumpet during the tiny desk show (great performance, too!); is it commercially available?
