Were all King Sterling Silver bells engraved as "Silver Sonic"? |

There were also some early SilverTone models that did not even say that, and are identifiable only by a cryptic script character above the bell engraving. _________________ Ron Berndt

I concur with the above. My uncle's King cornet from the 40's was "Silver Tone." With fighter jets breaking the sound barrier and everybody getting on the "supersonic" bandwagon (pun intended) in the late '50's, H. N. White changed the name of the bells to "Silver Sonic." Same bell. _________________ King Super 20 Trumpet; Sov 921 Cornet

Sears sold a line of stencil brasses under the "Silvertone" name in the '30s. It took a few years, but Sears eventually took King to court over the name and won -- thus "Silver Sonic." _________________ J. Notso Nieuwguyski |

As posted above it was loosing the lawsuit to Sears that caused them to change the name not the supersonic bandwagon as you say. |
