Sad to say that two of the things that have helped the most with my comeback is buying a good pair of reading glasses and a bright music stand light. I didn't have those problems back in High School.

I have been using specific straight prescription glasses just for reading music. I have another pair that I use for daily use that are progressives. I can't read music with those. And a light is always a good thing to have. I carry a few lights to the gigs that I play.

I know what you mean. At least half the mistakes I make during my practice sessions are caused by not seeing the music clearly (C looks like B looks like A looks like F, etc.).

I went for an eye exam and my prescription needed updating. But the new lenses haven't come in yet. Meantime, I'm getting a stronger light for my music stand.

A good light can be very helpful. I've found this one works well.

Another possible solution is using a large (12"+) digital display (tablet) with software like forscore can be helpful in such situations. Putting the display in landscape orientation and cropping parts so that they take the whole screen can make the notation bigger than traditional paper parts. The same could be done by using a copier to enlarge paper parts.

It appears you have found your group

Progressive bifocals here... Sometimes a challenge adjusting from reading the music to watching the director (heh) and then there's the occasional slight slide down the nose that messes up everything!
